Do you always think that other people are so much more interesting than you?
When people start to share their story about where they grew up, what type of family they come from, the stories about their parents or grandparents, and what their own experiences have been … the good the bad, the ugly; the group seem to physically lean in and absorb so much more about each other.
The connections feel almost tangible. Something sparks between the team members.
When we see leaders open up and share their personal stories, it’s not about their role or what they do – it’s those little glimpses into who they really are that makes all the difference.
Just being a little vulnerable like that can open conversations that lead to better understanding and empathy, letting us see each other as people, not just titles or positions.
This week, as we worked with a particularly diverse group, it really hit home: stories break down barriers. They help us connect, learn from each other, and quickly build a sense of community.
At the end of the day, it’s people who make the real impact. It’s their stories, their experiences, and their willingness to be themselves. That’s what helps teams grow and thrive.
One participant shared this quote that really stuck:
✨ "There’s no growth in the comfort zone. There’s no comfort in the growth zone."✨
So, be open, share who you are, and tell your story. You will become more comfortable the more you do it.👈
